The 10 Fastest Parkrun Times in the UK on September 9, 2023

by admin

Samantha Harrison and Angus McMillan achieved the fastest parkrun times in the UK over the weekend of September 9.

Our weekly parkrun top ten is sponsored by the British 24hr team, who are currently raising funds for the World 24hr Running Championships in Taiwan, taking place in December. If you are able to provide support or share the link, it would be greatly appreciated.

This week, we decided to see how well AI could replace our top-notch reporting here at Fast Running. However, there is a limitation as ChatGPT does not have access to any information after September 2021, so the latest form is not factored into the rankings…

While a direct swap does not appear imminent, we can still find some nice words to describe the runners’ performances. The parkrun events showcased some excellent running, with Sam Harrison standing out as the standout performer with another impressive time in the 15:30s.

1. Samantha Harrison – Long Eaton parkrun (00:15:38) At Long Eaton parkrun, Samantha Harrison, running unattached, dominated the race and finished with an impressive time of 15 minutes and 38 seconds. Her exceptional speed left spectators in awe as she surged ahead of the competition (note: no direct spectator contact has been made for this comment).

2. Louise Small – Winchester parkrun (00:16:28) Representing Aldershot, Farnham & District AC, Louise Small secured second place at Winchester parkrun, completing the course in 16 minutes and 28 seconds. Her consistent performance showcased her abilities as a top-class athlete.

Angus has a history of outstanding performances, and his recent victory at York further adds to his impressive record. His unwavering commitment to the sport has made him a formidable force in the world of parkrun.

2. Oscar Bell – Gunpowder parkrun (00:14:48) Oscar Bell, representing Herts Phoenix AC, achieved second place at Gunpowder parkrun with a swift time of 14 minutes and 48 seconds. His continuous excellence reflects his dedication to pushing his own limits and striving for success.

3. Andrew Douglas – Holyrood parkrun (00:14:53) Andrew Douglas, a member of Inverclyde AC, secured the third position at Holyrood parkrun with a finishing time of 14 minutes and 53 seconds. Andrew’s impressive performance this weekend adds to his already illustrious career (including his appearances for Great Britain in the past). He has consistently demonstrated his capabilities in previous parkrun and athletic events, earning respect among his peers.

The Fastest Course?

Based on the data, it appears that two parkruns at Poole, two at York, and two at Hove Promenade have equally impressive times. For the sake of randomness, let’s say that Hove Promenade parkrun is randomly chosen as the winner among the three. Please note that this is merely a fictional selection and may not reflect the actual results of any specific weekend.

Next week, we will return to having Robbie as our sole writer.
